Adding Employee Email to Android Devices

Being able to access your CUI Employee email on your phone is convenient, but there is sensitive information attached to your account. Because of this, CUI requires a "device policy" to be enforced on your phone if you wish to have your Employee email on it.

This is a common requirement for workplaces, so *most* Android phones have an easy solution for this. This solution is to create an entirely new profile on your phone in which the device policy is restrained to - it will only be able to access whatever is on your "Work Profile".

Note: Android phones all differ greatly in their development and as such, any of the steps below may look different. The following instructions are a a general example and you may need to search a bit for the corresponding option on your phone.

  1. Open the Gmail app on your phone.

  2. Tap on your profile picture on the top right.

  3. Tap on "Add Another Account" Switch to work profile will not be an option during first time setup



4. Tap on Google and enter your CUI Staff/Faculty Email Address



5. Tap next a few times and enter your E# and password when prompted.

6. Tap agree if you agree to the specified privacy policy.

7. Just wait! Your phone is now creating and registering a new profile and the process can take up to 10 minutes, maybe even longer.

NOTE: You will be asked to setup a password for your work profile. This is required by the CUI Device Policy and will have certain length specifications. Follow any prompts on your phone to setup your Work Profile's Pin or Password.

8. When the process is finished, confirm that your Work Profile is fully added.

On this phone, it can be found by swiping up on the home screen, on the all-app view.

Apps with the briefcase icon indicate that the app is within the Work Profile and not your main profile.

9. You will need to add the Gmail app to your Work Profile through the Play Store.

You may need to sign-in again on this new Gmail app, but not always. Follow the prompts and you will be able to see your CUI Emails in this app.



If, at any time, you notice your "@cui.edu" email present in your main profile's Gmail app, the process has gone wrong and/or has been interrupted. Tap on it and select "try again" to continue the process.
