Canvas Basics

Blackboard Learn

Canvas is the learning management system used by CUI to deliver all online and hybrid courses as well as support face-to-face courses.

There are three ways to access Canvas:

Canvas offers comprehensive support materials and tutorials through the Canvas for Students Guide. Below, some of the more commonly referenced items have been singled out for your quick reference.

The name of the app is "Canvas Student" and the developer is Instructure. You can either use the "Find my school" button and search up "Concordia University Irvine", or scan the QR code in Canvas if you have signed into your account on the web. You will use your same E number and password that you use on your computer to log into Canvas and your Eagles email.

It is strongly recommended that you download and install multiple internet browsers on your computer. Sometimes you can troubleshoot an error that is occurring by simply opening up the same page in a different browser. Canvas provides this browser check to check your installed browser's compatibility with Canvas.

In Canvas, your course needs to be made available before your students can view the content. If the course is unavailable, they will not see it in their dashboard.
